Recently added to our shelves, we have three new brush series from Holbein.

The Killington Series is handcrafted by the most experienced brush makers. These Japan dressed hog bristle brushes have a superior load and carry capacity and are soft, flexible and springy. They are an exceptional professional artist quality brush, perfect for acrylics or oils.

{220 Resable Series}

Handcrafted with nylon hairs, the 220 Resable Series has a blend of different thicknesses, helping to create textured brush strokes. These brushes have a large carrying capacity and have superior stiffness, spring and snap. Ideal for acrylics and DUO aqua oils colors.

The 220 Series is used exclusively by Vermont-based artist Sean Dye. Check out Dye's work at his website here: http://www.seandyestudio.com

{Pastel Series}

Last but not least, the Pastel Brushes! Traditional pastel painting has never had the benefit of a wide assortment of specialized tools to aid in the application of color to the painting surface. Holbein has now provided a selection of brushes with which the pastel artist can achieve optimum results from this delicate and colorful painting medium. These natural hair specialty brushes are ideal tools for blending colors and removing unwanted color.

M. Graham & Co.

We recently received a new shipment of M. Graham & Co. paints and our display of oils, gouaches, watercolors, and acrylics is now fully restocked! Individually made, M. Graham & Co. creates their colors a few hundred tubes at a time. Days are spent slowly coaxing its own distinctive nature from each pigment until the richness inherent in each is fully developed.

Our prices for M. Graham & Co. paints, walnut oils, mediums and varnishes are up to 40% off the suggested manufacturer's retail price! Truly a super deal!!

About the paints (from M. Graham & Co.):

OIL
Oil color ground in walnut oil provides rich, vibrant color with greater freedom of control over all types of painting application. Free flowing and slower drying, walnut oil enables delicate passages of finely blended color, rich jewel-like glazes or juicy full brush application with no addition of solvents.

GOUACHE
Crafted with the same lightfast pigments found in all of the M. Graham colors, the fine art gouache paints were created for the artist seeking both permanence and ease of use. Free from chalk and opacifying adulterants (leaving that choice to the artist), each color is entirely dependent upon the nature of the pigment for its color and opacity. A reflective matte finish provides a vehicle to be used alone or in mixed media combination with watercolor to create permanent works of art.

WATERCOLOR
The watercolor paints were created in an old fashioned binding medium of pure gum arabic and natural blackberry honey. The result is watercolor of extraordinary strength that is easily diluted for smooth, controlled washes and deeper "darks." Alive with strength and intensity, watercolor made with honey absorbs moisture from the air preventing hardening on the palette or in the tube.

ACRYLIC
At the heart of the acrylic color lies a unique high-solids pure acrylic emulsion. Containing 60% (instead of the usual 45% found in artists' colors), this emulsion has enabled to eliminate dependency upon the artificial thickeners used in artists' color. The result, increased pigment loadings for stronger, more intense color and enhanced working properties with the flow and delicacy normally found only in fine gouache.
